Captain David has fished out of Ma'alaea harbor for more than 50 years. Dave started fishing on a 34' Hawaiian sanpan with his father and uncles when he was only seven years old. He has worked for the company for over 10 years and brought the Makoa Kai over from the mainland when she was purchased in 2000.
     Dave's largest blue marlin caught personally weighed in at 600 lbs. He pulled in a 206 lb ahi in just over an hour standing up, with a straight butt rod and no belt! His single biggest catch was 992 lb of mahi mahi caught fishing alone one weekend out past Lanai.
     Dave is truly in a class of his own. Though he loves to fish himself, his greatest joy is taking guests out deep into the fishing grounds and helping them catch the fish of a lifetime.
